lab 12

HW article summary

Hello!

For this H.W  we had to read an article explaining what should we do and not do when we are writing an article/news. The article Explains what are good and bad for your news paper so you can be aware of copyright strike and safety of picture. It basically states that
1. No plagiarism
2. Photo taken by you
3. If photo downloaded form another source make sure to give credit to the website if not they can sue you or take down your news article
4. News must be legal and true if not you can get sue.
5. keep you opinion to your self you can only add them on editors thoughts section.
If you keep this things in mind you can write good and organized article. Also keep those key points in mind you will write a good and successful article.

News Paper Project

Hello everyone!
This project is about building our own newspaper. It was as a group. In my group there were 4 people. It was Nathan Vazquez, Brian Valazquez, Keven Moreno and me MD. It was fun how everyone did their part of the work and the project came out nice. Nathan was the chief editor, Keven was the designer, Brian was the manager,  And I was the reporter. We had to write our own article. We had to create our own advertisement which was a real pain. And the rest of the jobs were for the other members.

Identity

Hello everyone!
SO we had an IDENTITY project and the main objective was to create a poster that proves or shows identity. It can be like your trait or what you do. Anything that represents you or can represent someone. For this project i used my old "Andy warhole" image because on that I dont have a clear picture of my self it was a perfect picture to use. And in the end i put a question mark in the face so there is no way you can see my face. And then I put the quote " Be who you are its you that makes your identity" The project was fun and by doing this we get to learn how to create a poster and learn more about identity.

News article

Hello!
This is the last project for this marking period. For this we had to use make our own news paper. The rules were simple. You can take information that is true from another paper but rephrase the words and give credit to the website. Also there were suppose to be 1 pull quote and 3 columns. It was really easy and nice. mine came out like this.

This project is really important. By doing this we get to learn how to write professionally. Also what are the information that needs to go or eligible for newspaper. Also we get to learn hot to use pull quote. Which is important in any kind of writing if you are trying to pull attention. These are needed for jobs and future.

Mini year book

Hello!
The mini yearbook is the first project we have for this marking period. It was fun. So our main task was to build a mini yearbook. It had 8 spreads and we had to fill it up all by our selves. So we had 4 members. Each had individual part of the job. I was the manager so i had to tell everyone what to do, dividing works, receiving works and deciding what will go where. It was over all fun. Alex was the editor, Jeff was the photographer, I was the manager and Mathew was the designer. The app that was used for this project is mostly InDesign and Photoshop. Also we actually did all the work in Alexe's computer there for we didn't need to combine any work.

This is important to our future. By doing complex project like the yearbook not only we get to learn how to make a yearbook but we also get to learn how to interact with other people and work as a team. Which is needed any part of a job or being in society. The project was really fun. We also will be needing the skills used for this project in the future.

Parts of the news paper

In a newspaper, there are many types of news and a news paper has a lot of information. Therefor news papers have different sections for different types of news. It is important to organize the news page. If not people will be lost inside the newspaper for a long time. Newspaper are divided into 10 important sections so readers can use newspaper easily and effectively.

1.The news paper starts off with big Heading. It gives the company name. Also the front page contains the most important news. Also their title is printed in big bold letter as well so it draws readers attention.
2. There is local and foreign news: On that part you will find all the news of other countries or the local news.
3. Editorial page: Its when editors give their point of view. If the writer thinks the speaker is wrong or right they can give their opinion.
4. Sports page: All the news about sports goes in the sports section. This includes all types of sports.
5. Classified Ads section: By doing this news papers earn money also it gives local sales on stores.
6. Business and finance section: Financial news about banking and earning goes in finance section
7. Entertainment section: All the fun news about tv shows or events that occured goes in entertainment section.
8. Home and culture section: News about budgeting, food preparation, house improvement, proper plan care goes on this section.
9. Society page: News about the community popular celebrity or celebration goes in this section.
10. Travel and tourist guide section: This section contains advertisement about parks or picnic spots so tourist can go and enjoy popular places also it gives sale news about tickets or special event related to traveling.

Lab 11

Hello everyone!
During lab 11 we had a new teacher who was taking a course to become a teacher. So she gave us a similar task. We had to blend image with letters. Its like you have the letter but picture inside the letter. for example she gave us this picture but we have to add letters to it. So we can write a word that is related to those sports tools. Sports was a good word and we had to type sport but the picture will have to be in the lettering. To do that we have to Type the word and need to make the font size big. If you use bold text there will be more pictures coming out. After you typed out the letter you need to go to "Type" and then you need to go to " create outline" Than all you have to do is go to files and place the picture. For this go to "file" and "place" then just select the picture that you want to put in. After doing the process my image came out to be like this.
It looks nice and its pretty important. Its good to know handy skills like this. Because we will be needing this type of skills in the future and in our jobs. Also if we are assigned to do this type of work anywhere we can do it easily. Its a pretty common technique and its really nice so this will be important for our future.

Blending image

Hello everyone!
Today in class, we had a guest teacher and she taught us how to blend image with its topic. for example...

This picture is with the text happy but in background there are fireworks! This is inspiring because the picture it self is self explanatory and the text says happy and that means good moment or a celebration time. So by puting fire work it shows Happy New year or other happy ceremony. 

This picture is also inspiring and one of my favorite. I like to travel and its because you get to explore and see natures beauty and in this picture it shows that the road is waiting for you to explore the beautiful nature. 

This skills is needed and an important part of creativity. If we get a project to take picture we can put the theme picture and write it in our heading so people can see what is the theme about and it looks nice.

York College Trip

Hello Everyone!
We had a trip to York college and it was a first come first serve. So not many people from my base went to the trip. The trip was fun. We went there by bus and we had to attend in different bases based on your choice. There was Game, Race, Code and more. I picked game and my task was to think of an idea of a game that prevents or aware people from taking drugs. It was fun. We had a pop quiz and if you answer it correct you get a ticked and you can earn price.

Brochure project/ Respect for all

Hello everyone!
We had  a project to do and it was about Respect for all. So we had to pick a topic that you think is important and make a brochure about it. So people will know about it and be aware or help if possible. My topic was about child abuse. I loved doing the project and it was kind of heart breaking. The information that i found was really hard for me and there are a lot more children that gets abused then you think. Also this project was very important to us and for the people.

For this project we used in-design and we learned how to make brochures. It's important for us because if we get a job we might need to do brochures so we can give the papers to the new people so they can read and learn more about the job or what the brochure was made for. This project was really important i would like to spread the words to everyone if possible. This project was fun as well. We actually helped each other out and we had a lot of free time during the project.

Lab 10: Printing a Booklet

Hello everyone!
Our lab 10 was kinda confusing but it was easy if you follow instruction. Lab 10 was basically about how to print out a booklet. You print a regular size page but it is used like a spread so it comes like a small book. Our task was to create a booklet of 8 pages. It need to have a front and back page and the middle pages we had nothing to do so we put a specific shape that we like and print our name. But we learned how to make a booklet so if we need to make a booklet its the same process but we will have to write more in it. This is important because we need this skill in the future to make booklets and its important too because in most of jobs now they advertise by a booklet and a booklet gives more information and explains more so it has more value.

Lab 9 Animated brochure

Hello everyone!
Mrs Ramirez Gave us a project about brochure and we did a pretty good job in it but this time it was even more fun. We get to play around with our brochure so we can make them animated. For my animation i used Fade in, Slide from left, pulse and rotate. It made the brochure really nice. And we also made the brochure flip able like you open a book.

These skills are important because now we know how to make animated brochure we can actually work on making brochure or get a job in designing brochure. We also need this skills in the future. Because we might be doing more brochures. And we will be getting professional jobs and most of them requires you to know In Design work and brochures.

This is the actual brochure but it was animated so you can open it like a book and flip the page but for some reason i wasn't able to put the animated files so i put a screen shot of the brochure!

Metropolitan museum of art

Hello everyone!
We had a wonderful class trip. It was in the Metropolitan museum of art. In there we saw a lot of artworks. They had statues, painting, and other figures of art. Some of them are about certain culture and some are made because of interest and curiosity. In this trip i learned many things. Specially i learned about the Islamic mosaics. They are pretty beautiful and guide explained what it means. They day Islamic mosaics are blue color and it has flowers in it to show that the masque is a beautiful and peaceful place. Also in Iran they don't have much water because its desert so wild life is rare and the weather is dry and the mosaic is there to show the nice things that god created and that it makes them feel better just by looking at it.

We also learned about pixels and pix-cells. They are interesting. Pix-cells is an animal that is covered by round marbles and they are in different sizes. Also there was this painting where the painter had to draw a picture by pixels which was amazing and it was probably hard. They did it by their own hand and now in modern days pixels are used everywhere. In our phone. TV and other electronic devices. we also learned about how the colors effect a picture and different shape of tools bring different effects. We can use this in our visual designing class. We work with color and edit pictures this is one of the most crucial subject in visual designing. After seeing many pictures and the variety of colors that shows different effect we can use that to improve our creation.

I loved going to the museum. It was my first time going to metropolitan museum. I have seen other things that is similar to this museum in my country but over here most of the work is not locked in glass. I also liked how the whole class was enjoying and it was fun. My favorite part was that we get to discuss about each artwork and share our opinion but i hated to stand up and walk for the whole time we were in museum. I would take my parents to see the museum

because there are certain things that i think they should know but they don't know and so i can explain the importance of the works that happened in the past. The modern map is slight different then the paper map. If you zoom in the map there are more details pop up in the image.

CTE EXPO

Hello Everyone!
We had a wonderful day during the CTE EXPO. CTE EXPO is a way to introduce the freshmen students to the CTE academy. We show them our work that we have done and try to persuade them to join the best CTE Academy which is Web Designing. CTE EXPO is important because freshmen get to choose their favorite class and we get to learn our interviewing skills and practice. During the CTE EXPO freshmen come and we have to explain our project  and how the class system works so they get excited to join the class. For me Nothing was really wrong I was shy for the first few minutes and after that i got over it. Also this year the freshmen are rude and shy. They show no interest in the class. I tried to talk to them first. I kept eye contact and I shook every person i met and talked to. This is good because this shows that you are not nervous and it's also a great way to start a conversation. Personally The CTE EXPO helps me in many ways. Like it gave me an opportunity to practice my interviewing skills which i will be needing in future when i need a job or when i am going to for something. Also It taught us how to work as a team. Like I talk to a freshmen and then i hand that freshmen to one of the juniors or seniors so they have a chance to go to the juniors or seniors and talk to them.

Hour of code.

Hello everyone.
In the hour of code weak we learned how to code and the basic information needed to code.  Which was pretty fun. We also had a meting in the library. We had workers from facebook, twitter and other big companies. They came up to us and asked questions and gave out prizes. we also learned the how important coding is. Also The freshmen class came in to visit us and we had to explain what is coding and how does it really work. It was pretty fun!

Workshop 4. Job interview.

Hello Everyone.

In workshop 4 we had a conversation about job interview. They told us important information. Like what questions to ask and what questions to avoid. Also how should we dress and hygiene. We also learned that do not interrupt when an elder is talking. They also said if your hand sweats or its cold go to the restroom and clean your hand. Dry it up. Because people gets nervous. 

Workshop 3, Job right.

Hello!
For workshop 3 we had a whole big group talk about job safety. And those conversation was important. Because in future we will get jobs so we must know our rights, We should also know what to do or what not to do in dangerous situation. Also they told us what is required to get a job and the time schedule for different ages.

Project 4 reflection journal.

Hello everyone!

This is probably the last blog for this semester. It was fun in web designing. We learned a lot about photoshopping and in the end we learned about InDesign which was pretty cool. We made our own logo and Business card. 

Our visiting card project was really fun and interesting. We got to learn “InDesign” it’s a software made by the photoshop company. It was pretty similar to photoshop. They had similar layout and some of the same tools that we used in photo shop. This project was intense as well. Because it’s a new software and many of us were confused what to do with the new tools and how does it work. Also we found out that we need to make 9 visiting cards with three logos in different design. But it was fun at the end.

So for this project We had to use the basic tools of photoshop. We had to use brush tool, Quick selection tool, crop tools and many more. But those are the key tools. So for this project i created 3 business cards. One of them is for Visual design, doctoring and art studio. It was pretty fun how we had to re arrange the cards for different design. This is important because in the future if we open a business or a brand we need business card so people can find us and our contact information. And in future we might make logos for ourselves but now if we get a job to make business cards we can and we will get hired because we know all the components and what to do to create a professional business card.

In the end we had to put our work on a hard board  so we can present the project. We also had to answer few question, give an introduction and explain the basic needs for a business card.

Project 3 Reflection journal

Hello Everyone!

In project 3 we had to fix an old picture that was almost destroyed. We had to restore the picture. It was hard but its really important and helpful. For this project we mostly used all the photo editing tools. So first I restore the background using the healing brush tool. Then i fixed the eyes. For the eyes i used the patch tool so i copied the eyes. and then i carefully fixed the hair with healing brush tool. then i fixed the face with the same tool. My final edit came out much better then the original picture.

This project is very important. Now that we have experienced how to restore a picture we can work on our personal picture and we need this skill in future. If we get hired for photoshopping these skills are must required to restore the picture. And this project was fun too. People we confused and they were in panic but it was really fun in the ed. The final effect came out really nice and better then the original picture.
